Commonly known as the Green Velvet plant, Alocasia Frydek’s appeal comes from its signature arrowhead-shaped leaves. Bright white veins divide the surface of each leaf into well-defined sections, thus giving a sharp yet charmingly elegant contrast. The plant is native to Southeast Asia and Eastern Australia.

Similar to other varieties of the Alocasia genus, you’ll need to place Alocasia Frydek in well-lit locations, where there is bright, indirect sunlight. The plant grows best in moist but well-drained soil. A mix of peat, perlite, and compost is a good start. To ensure sufficient humidity, mist the leaves regularly. It’ll help deter spider mites as well.

Alocasia Frydek can reach up to 3 feet tall, with its leaves having the potential to grow up to 18 inches long. The plant does well in a small pot and you’ll only need to repot your Frydek when it starts displaying signs of becoming rootbound. During its growth period in summer, fertilize the plant periodically – once every 2 to 3 weeks. Cut down on watering and fertilizing when it goes dormant during winter.

With its striking foliage, Alocasia Frydek is a stunning eye-catcher and a must-have for gardening enthusiasts.

We ship from Los Angeles, and we only ship within the United States. We do not ship to Hawaii / Canada / International. We typically ship on Mondays or Tuesdays to avoid plants being stuck in transit over the weekends, but we may sometimes ship later in the week depending on order volume. With that said, we cannot guarantee or control delivery time. If delivery time is a concern, please opt for upgraded shipping.

We take great care when packaging and preparing your plants for shipment. They'll be shipped either in a nursery pot in soil or sphagnum moss, or shipped bare root wrapped in sphagnum moss or other damp material to retain moisture. We also add poly-fil around the plant for padding, then wrap it in bubble wrap, and finally add packing peanuts for extra cushion to ensure a safe and clean transport.

We also offer local pick-up if you're in the Los Angeles area.

We're a U.S. based seller so our plants ship directly from our greenhouse in Los Angeles to your house. You don't have to worry about the hassles associated with ordering overseas. No worrying about phytosanitary certificates, plants being stuck in Customs or USDA inspection, or having to acclimate plants to their new environment. When you order from us, it's simple and straightforward. Our plants are rare, but our customer service is always well-done!
