Mother is a living, probiotic potting soil built on activated biochar and 800+ species of beneficial microbes. Think of it like a healthy gut, but for your plants: a diverse soil microbiome that helps them build stronger roots, resist disease and drought, and handle temperature swings.
The soil is fluffy and aerated, holds moisture so you water less often, and drains clean. You can use it straight from the bag or blend it into your current mix. It's hand-brewed in small batches and ships as a complete living ecosystem. Everything a plant needs is already in the bag. It works with most tropicals, aroids, cacti, and succulents.

How much you need
Each bag is 3 quarts and repots about three plants in 6-inch pots. Top-dressing instead of repotting stretches a bag across roughly twice as many plants.
FAQs
1. How long does it stay alive in the bag? Six months unopened and stored cool, or three to four months once opened in a closed bin. The microbes don't die — they go dormant — so even an older bag re-activates with water.
2. Is it safe around cats, dogs, and kids? Yes. There are no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and nothing in the bag that isn't soil. If you have a digger, add a top-dress of pebbles.
3. Do I need to fertilize? No — Mother feeds itself for 12+ months as the microbes release nutrients on demand. You're buying one living bag instead of a bag of mix plus a year of monthly fertilizer.
We take great care when packaging and preparing your plants for shipment. They'll be shipped either in a nursery pot in soil or sphagnum moss, or shipped bare root wrapped in sphagnum moss or other damp material to retain moisture. We also add poly-fil around the plant for padding, then wrap it in bubble wrap, and finally add packing peanuts for extra cushion to ensure a safe and clean transport.
