Coming from the tropics of Brazil, the Stromanthe Triostar is a lovely, colorful plant that will add a splash of color to any home. Its long, glossy leaves are variegated with green, creamy white, and a splash of pink, and their undersides are a luxurious, reddish-purple hue.
These vivid colors are so unique and sought-after that it is sometimes gifted as an alternative to the Poinsettia during the holiday season. As if that wasn’t cool enough, the plant rearranges its own leaves during the day to give both the top and bottoms a chance soak up the light, so every time you look at it, it is different.
This is a spectacular specimen that will be the star of any collection… but there’s a catch. It is temperamental. Even one small mistake can be a lasting setback. Watering, for example, should only be done with soft water that contains no minerals, such as rain water or distilled water. And while the soil should always be slightly damp, it should never be soggy. It also prefers filtered light, unlike other variegated plants that love soaking up bright light.
If you are up for a challenge and ready to do your research, though, this is a rewarding plant with stunning leaves that can grow quite large (and beautiful) with the proper care.

We take great care when packaging and preparing your plants for shipment. They'll be shipped either in a nursery pot in soil or sphagnum moss, or shipped bare root wrapped in sphagnum moss or other damp material to retain moisture. We also add poly-fil around the plant for padding, then wrap it in bubble wrap, and finally add packing peanuts for extra cushion to ensure a safe and clean transport.
We also offer local pick-up if you're in the Los Angeles area.
