Philodendron billietiae is a rare but beautiful houseplant characterized by its orange-yellow petioles (the small stems that connect the leaves to the main stalk) and long, heart-shaped leaves.
In the wild, these leaves grow to enormous sizes to soak up as much sun as they can through the shadows cast by the other plants and trees that grow around them. At home, without all this competition, the plant grows to “just” around three-feet tall when kept in bright but indirect light and must often be supported by a stake so it stays upright.
Hailing from tropical climates like Brazil, French Guiana, and Guyana, this plant loves high humidity levels. What it does not love is over-watering, which can cause fungus and root rot. Water it only when the soil is completely dry: about once every week or two.
Philodendron billietiae likes well-draining soil containing perlite, compost, sphagnum peat moss. It must be repotted every two years, or when the roots start to get compacted and claustrophobic in their pot.
While exotic and alluring, this plant and its adorable heart-shaped leaves are surprisingly easy to maintain, as they require little maintenance.

We ship from Los Angeles, and we only ship within the United States. We do not ship to Hawaii / Canada / International. We typically ship on Mondays or Tuesdays to avoid plants being stuck in transit over the weekends, but we may sometimes ship later in the week depending on order volume. With that said, we cannot guarantee or control delivery time. If delivery time is a concern, please opt for upgraded shipping.
We take great care when packaging and preparing your plants for shipment. They'll be shipped either in a nursery pot in soil or sphagnum moss, or shipped bare root wrapped in sphagnum moss or other damp material to retain moisture. We also add poly-fil around the plant for padding, then wrap it in bubble wrap, and finally add packing peanuts for extra cushion to ensure a safe and clean transport.
We also offer local pick-up if you're in the Los Angeles area.
